Mass Root Removal

Project – Mass roots removal from main sewer
Equipment Used – Big Bruno with oscillating head
Pipe diameter – 900mm x 600mm Egg Culvert
We can adapt our robots to all pipe shapes and profiles to tackle the job at hand

The Problem

Our client contacted us following the inspection of a 900mm x 600mm brick egg culvert.  there was severe root ingress throughout the 40 metre length.  Given the size of the culvert and severity of the roots, traditional jetting/milling works would not suffice.

The Solution

Given the size of the culvert, this called for Big Bruno!  Capable of tackling pipework as large as 1200mm and beyond, the robot was easily adapted to tackle the egg profile.  We equipped an Oscillating head and deployed the robot from a chamber in a residential garden.

The Outcome

Working at roughly 1200Bar of pressure, Big Bruno was able to progress through the culvert with ease, removing mass roots as well as tap roots over 3 inches in thickness!  Over 2x shifts, we were able to fully clear the culvert which would have not been possible without the DrainJet Robotics system.  Our client was then able to survey the line and assess for repairs.
